Simmons Machine Tool wins automated axle line contract

Simmons Machine Tool Corp. recently obtained a contract from AXIS L.L.C. to provide an automated railway axle roughing line.
A joint venture between Amsted Industries, American Railcar Industries Inc. and other parties, AXIS will use the line at a plant in Paragould, Ark. Simmons will supply a "turnkey solution" comprising machine tools and marking, inspection and handling equipment, the machine tool company said.
Simmons provides wheelshop equipment designed to produce and maintain rail, metro and transit wheelsets, wheels and axles.
