The Greenbrier Cos.’ board recently elected Charles Swindells as a member, effective Sept. 1.
From 2001 to 2005, Swindells was the U.S. ambassador to New Zealand and Samoa. He previously served as vice chairman of US Trust Co. N.A., chairman and chief executive officer of Capital Trust Management Corp., and managing director/founder of Capital Trust Co.
Greenbrier builds freight cars in the United States, Canada and Mexico; repairs and refurbishes cars at 16 North American locations; and builds and refurbishes cars at two European facilities.
