The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) continues to bring new members to the management team under General Manager John Catoe, who’s been on the job since January. The authority recently named Dave Kubicek assistant general manager, chief mechanical officer.

He will be responsible for overseeing rolling stock engineering, shops, quality assurance storerooms, and rail-car design, procurement and maintenance.

With 20 years’ experience in the rail and mass transit industries, Kubicek most recently served as deputy executive officer of rail fleet services for the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority. He began his career at Dallas Area Rapid Transit as a technician and worked his way up to senior manager of rail fleet services.
