WMATA to purchase new passenger cars

advertisement

Attention all passenger-car builders: The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) will seek bids in summer for a next generation of cars.

The authority plans to purchase 128 7000 Series rail cars to operate on the future Dulles Corridor Metrorail extension. The vehicles will be similar to WMATA’s 6000 Series cars, which feature additional overhead and seat back-to-ceiling handrails, and no floor-to-ceiling poles. The 7000 Series will sport improved customer information and communication systems.
