Wabtec Global Services markets wireless car-repair billing system

Wabtec Corp. subsidiary Wabtec Global Services recently began offering a wireless freight-car repair billing system, which already has been licensed by several North American Class Is and customers.

Field employees enter data on a mobile handheld device once car repairs are completed to help reduce errors and omissions. The billing application is designed to be integrated with a railroad's accounting system and help ensure repair entries comply with Association of American Railroads regulations.

"Railroads using [the] system have been able to increase revenue from car-repair billings, and decrease billing errors and operational costs," said Wabtec Global Services Vice President and General Manager James Hoffner in a prepared statement, adding that the system tracks component usage for inventory-management applications.

Wabtec Global Services provides electronic, pneumatic and mechanical car-component repairs; software applications for car and locomotive repairs, and inventory management; and component operation and maintenance training.
