Wories takes president's reins at Amsted Rail; company adds job responsibilities for nine execs

Amsted International recently appointed John Wories Jr. president of Amsted Rail to replace Stephen Smith, who's been named vice president and general counsel of Amsted Industries.

Wories, who will report to Amsted Industries Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer W. Robert Reum, had served as president of Amsted International since 2005. Wories previously was president of Amsted Rail unit ASF-Keystone Co. for five years.

Amsted Rail also announced it added job responsibilities for the following executives:
• Bill O'Donnell will be responsible for all North American sales and customer support as VP-sales. Field service engineering and customer service staff will also report to O'Donnell.
• Carl Pickard will be responsible for Amsted Rail's marketing and growth initiatives as chief marketing officer.
• Bob Cantwell, now VP of business development, will be responsible for completing Amsted Rail's joint venture axle project that's under way and working with Pickard on future growth initiatives.
• Jay Monaco will have worldwide responsibility for new product development and product performance as VP of engineering.
• Steve Becker will be responsible for all international commercial activities outside North America as managing director-international.
• Paul Limbach will have worldwide responsibility for all safety, environmental, manufacturing, sourcing, process and product engineering, quality and continuous improvement as chief operating officer, truck and end-of-car systems.
• Mark Shirley will have worldwide responsibility for all safety, environmental, manufacturing, sourcing, process and product engineering, quality and continuous improvement as chief operating officer for wheels, bearings and, eventually, axles.
• Dave Liming will be responsible for system-wide implementation of the SAP business enterprise software and hardware solutions as vice president-business systems.
• Wayne Luce will have full functional responsibility for human resources within Amsted Rail as vice president-human resources. He also will be responsible for human resources for Amsted Rail subsidiaries Griffin Wheel and Brenco, as well as Axles and International.
