The waiting and anticipation are over! The time is finally here. Registration and the room block for the 2025 NRC Conference and NRC-REMSA Exhibition, coming up Jan. 5-8 in Marco Island, Florida, are open and already filling up. I can’t think of a better venue or a place I’d rather be in early January than at the NRC with all of you.
Our schedule is jam-packed with top industry leaders, excellent speakers and exciting topics. Attendees will be the first in the industry to hear about the capital plans of Class I railroads, short lines and passenger/transit lines. There will be countless opportunities to talk and network with the more than 1,000 railway industry leaders, and learn about new advancements and updates on current projects.
While those are compelling reasons to attend, I confess I’m looking forward to participating in our fireside chat. NRC Vice Chairman Curtis Bilow — who serves as vice president of business development for Ames Construction — and I will sit down with one of our industry’s influential railroad leaders for a casual, yet candid discussion.
Copied by other conferences but never matched, the fireside chat is always a conference highlight and consistently earns top reviews from attendees. Over the years, the NRC has been fortunate to secure top railroad leaders who discuss the full range of issues confronting railroads and the broader business community.
This fireside chat is no different. I’m thrilled to announce that CSX President and CEO Joe Hinrichs will be our 2025 NRC keynote speaker. Unlike most other railroad leaders, Mr. Hinrichs offers a new perspective, having spent most of his career in another industry. He brings 30 years of experience in the global automotive, manufacturing and energy sectors where he’s built an exemplary record around operational excellence and employee engagement. Before joining CSX in 2022, he served as president of Ford Motor Co.’s automotive business.
Unlike the recent political debates, our discussion will be collaborative and open, just like the best contractor/supplier relationships already have with their railroad clients. This approach is what makes our industry a real family and provides the best results. We work together to solve the problems we all face and join forces to provide safe, world-class transportation services.
I do expect this discussion will be unique. I think Mr. Hinrichs will challenge us to think differently, behave differently and consider some innovative approaches to the work we perform and the services we provide. That’s exciting and I can’t wait!
