Yesterday, BNSF Railway Co. launched an $8 million track improvement project between Beaver Hill, Mont., and Mandan, N.D.

Scheduled to conclude Oct. 16, the project calls for replacing about 20 track miles of rail. Two rail replacement production crews involving 33 workers will replace nearly one mile of rail per day. BNSF will close sections of track six hours per day during the project.

As part of this year's $2.85 billion cap-ex budget, the Class I will spend more than $1.8 billion on infrastructure improvements.
