Harsco Track Technologies recently received a $5 million order from Balfour Beatty Co. subsidiary Balfour Beatty Rail Plant for two track-construction trains.

Balfour Beatty Rail Plant plans to use the trains — expected to be delivered in first-half 2004 — to maintain track on portions of Network Rail's system in England and Scotland beginning in April. Balfour Beatty recently inked a track-maintenance contract with Network Rail.

"Harsco Track Technologies has collaborated with Balfour Beatty on the management and maintenance of the Network Rail Stoneblower [tamper] fleet over the past five years, [and] we look forward to continuing our … relationship on this newest project," said Harsco Track Technologies President G. Robert Newman in a prepared statement.

Harsco Track Technologies markets track maintenance, renewal and construction equipment, and offers track-maintenance services to Class Is, short lines and passenger railroads.
