The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) has awarded a $530,000 contract for intersection and railroad crossing improvements in Anderson and Muncie, Ind.The improvements will be made at four locations. The railroad crossing work is being done to prepare for additional improvements that the railroads will install as part of INDOT's Office of Public Safety Highway-Rail Crossing Program, INDOT officials said in a press release.E&B Paving Inc. expects to begin work in June and complete it by October.The contract calls for:• installing new sidewalks and curb ramps at the Norfolk Southern Railway crossing at State Road 32 near the intersection of John Street in Anderson.• constructing concrete center median on State Road 9/Scatterfield Road near two CSX crossings south of State Road 232/Mounds Road in Anderson;• installing advanced warning signage near the NS crossing the Muncie bypass (State Road 67) between Cowan Road and Walnut Street; and• installing new traffic signals, lengthening left-turn lanes and center median on State Road 9/Scatterfield Road at the intersection of State Road 236/53rd Street in Anderson.
