The Chicago Region Environmental and Transportation Efficiency Program (CREATE) partners announced late last week that CSX has selected TranSystems to provide construction management services for the Forest Hill Flyover and 71st Street grade separation projects.
Both projects are part of the 75th Street Corridor Improvement Project. TranSystems has begun engineering and administrative management work, which is expected to continue until construction on both projects is completed, CREATE officials said in a press release.
The construction manager will provide inspection, management, reporting and coordinating services that will be critical to ensuring the success of the project.
"Having a skilled construction manager will fulfill our commitment to the community – to best mitigate impacts during construction and complete construction in a timely manner," said Tom Livingston, head of state government relations and community affairs for CSX.
The TranSystems' team includes six local disadvantaged business enterprise (DBE) firms. They are: Ardmore Roderick, which will manage construction inspection; DB Sterlin, which will provide survey services; Interra Inc., which will conduct material testing; PMCS Consulting, which will cover project controls; GSG Consultants Inc., which will provide environmental compliance services; and Trinal, which will provide public outreach and DBE compliance and tracking services.
