On Friday, Material Technologies Inc. (MATECH) announced Transportation Technology Center Inc. (TTCI) will test the company’s metal fatigue detection system at the Facility for Accelerated Service Testing (FAST) track in Pueblo, Colo. TTCI’s test train will cross over a FAST track steel bridge equipped with the system more than 100 times daily.

The MATECH Electrochemical Fatigue Sensor non-destructive inspection, measurement and monitoring system is designed to detect cracks below a metal structure’s surface.

“Testing of this technology … will be mutually beneficial to both MATECH and the railroad industry,” said TTCI Engineer Duane Otter in a prepared statement.
