TieTek L.L.C. recently obtained an order for 60,000 composite ties from BNSF Railway Co. The North American Technologies Group Inc. subsidiary produces TieTek™ composite ties from recycled plastics and scrap tires.
“We expect the BNSF order will utilize existing capacity through the second quarter of 2006, including production from our Houston facility that is back on line after [completing] repairs from fire damage suffered earlier this year,” said TieTek Director of Marketing Dan Brink in a prepared statement.
Combined with a six-year Union Pacific Railroad contract to supply 1 million ties through 2008, the BNSF order might require TieTek to consider expanding plant capacity next year, said Brink.
