North American Technologies Group subsidiary TieTek recently announced the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) will purchase 7,000 composite crossties, which will be supplied by Menard’s Railroad Materials.

CTA will use the ties for maintenance and spot replacement along its 222 track miles. Produced from 80 percent recycled materials, the ties have a projected lifespan of more than 40 years, TieTek said.

In October, MTA New York City Transit purchased 11,000 composite ties from the supplier.
