Yesterday, L.B. Foster Co. subsidiary CXT Inc. announced it obtained a long-term contract from Union Pacific Railroad to supply pre-stressed concrete ties through 2012 — the largest contract in L.B. Foster's history.

CXT plans to expand and modernize its Grand Island, Neb., plant and build a new facility in Tucson, Ariz., to meet contract requirements. Designed to meet pre-stressed concrete quality standards, the plants will be registered to ISO 9001:2000. CXT officials believe the facilities will help generate more than $150 million in revenue.

The plants will feature improved process control and high-speed load-out systems, said L.B. Foster President and Chief Executive Officer Stan Hasselbusch in a prepared statement.
