Caltrain begins ballast deliveries

Caltrain has begun delivering ballast to a storage area on its property between track and Chico Street in Menlo Park, Calif. The ballast will be used for a variety of construction and maintenance projects, including the San Bruno grade separation, Caltrain officials said in a prepared statement.
During the next several weeks, the ballast will be delivered in a 54-car train, which will be staged at Redwood Junction. The train will be divided into smaller six- to eight-car trains that will deliver the ballast to the Chilco Street storage site. A total of three 54-car trains will be used to complete deliveries.
