On Saturday, Caltrain work crews will remove a 100-year-old railroad bridge that spans Jerrold Avenue in San Francisco and replace it with a modern single-span steel bridge.
The “big move” will begin shortly after midnight and be completed before trains start operating Saturday morning, Caltrain officials said in a prepared statement.
In addition to the new bridge, the project also includes new steel structures and columns to support the bridge, new tracks through the area, new pavement on the street under the bridge and new sidewalks.
Construction on the entire $5 million project began in January.
