Rail News: Maintenance Of Way
Century Products L.L.C. recently granted a commercial license to Ameren Energy Fuels and Services Co. to develop, produce and market polyurethane composite railroad ties featuring Century Products’ LifeTime Lumber® technology.
Comprising custom polyurethane chemicals and recycled fly ash, LifeTime Lumber is designed to resist water absorption, mold, mildew and rot. The companies plan to jointly develop an environmentally friendly composite tie offering a long service life.
“We are confident that the new composite railroad tie will meet or exceed industry performance specifications for the creosote-treated wooden ties currently in service,” said Century Products President John Taylor in a prepared statement.
