The Chicago Department of Transportation’s (CDOT) Division of Engineering recently issued a request for proposals (RFP) seeking professional roadway design engineering services for two grade separation projects that are part of the Chicago Region Environmental and Transportation Efficiency (CREATE) program. Proposals are due July 16.

The RFP pertains to CREATE Projects GS9 and GS11, which involve grade separating highways and Belt Railway Co. of Chicago (BRC) tracks.

GS9 calls for eliminating an at-grade crossing of Archer Avenue and two BRC tracks by constructing an overpass or underpass. Each day, about 18,000 vehicles, 250 buses and 40 freight trains use the crossing. CDOT is seeking Phase 1 preliminary engineering and Phase 2 final design services for the project.

GS11 calls for eliminating an at-grade crossing of Columbus Avenue and three BRC tracks by constructing an overpass or underpass. Each day, about 8,200 vehicles and 50 freight trains use the crossing. CDOT also is seeking Phase 1 preliminary engineering and Phase 2 final design services for the project.

For more information on the RFP, call Edward Anderson at 312-744-6118.
