On March 28, Progressive Railroading will present the Maintenance of Way Virtual Conference & Expo, a free online event to be held from 9 to 5 p.m. (EDT). Similar to a traditional trade show, the web-based exposition and conference will help connect rail decision makers and industry suppliers in the maintenance-of-way (MOW) sector.
The event will offer educational sessions, a virtual exhibit hall, networking opportunities and a resource center. To be presented in the virtual conference auditorium, the sessions will focus on the Cedar Rapids & Iowa City Railway Co.’s MOW program, including a key bridge replacement; MTA Metro-North Railroad’s response to severe, infrastructure-damaging weather in late 2011; rail industry safety training and strategies; the industry’s near-term legislative pursuits; and a crosstie market update from the Railway Tie Association.
Registered attendees can create a professional profile, "chat" with booth representatives via the Internet, access a networking lounge, and tap online buying and selling opportunities.
At the event, one registrant will be randomly chosen to receive a complimentary copy of Maintenance of Way Spending Report 2012, which is valued at $249. To be released March 28, the report features data on MOW programs planned by 83 freight and passenger railroads, including detailed information on Class I programs; project highlights and work breakdowns provided by 48 regionals, short lines and small-road holding companies; and pertinent facts on dozens of trackwork and facility projects planned by 28 passenger railroads and transit agencies.
