The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) last week approved plans to install mast-mounted flashing lights and gates at grade crossings in Seneca and Wyandot counties

In Seneca County, CSX Transportation will upgrade the crossing at Ward Road/Township Road 43, and Norfolk Southern Railway will upgrade the crossing at Township Road 122 in Reed Township, PUCO officials said in a press release.

In Wyandot County, Wheeling & Lake Erie Railway Co. will improve the crossing at David Road/Township Road 31 in Tymochtee Township.

The railroads are expected to complete construction by April 1, 2016. Federal funds will cover the costs.
