The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) recently announced plans to build a  $6.1 million railroad bridge in Macon County as part of of its RoadWorks 2013 construction program.

G.P.'s Enterprises Inc. will construct the new bridge above CSX Transportation tracks on a realigned portion of State Route 90 south of Ideal. The current structure will remain in use until the new bridge opens in May 2015, GDOT officials said in a press release.

Other program work planned by the department includes a $2.8 million overhaul of an Interstate Highway 75 span in Bartow County and resurfacing work along 57 miles of highways in nine counties.
