HDR to provide engineering, environmental services for southern California crossing separation

The San Bernardino County Associated Governments recently contracted HDR Inc. to provide preliminary engineering and environmental services for the Colton Crossing grade separation project.

Designed to alleviate congestion at a point where BNSF Railway Co. and Union Pacific Railroad lines cross, the $150 million project calls for grade-separating the crossing to divide east-west UP tracks from BNSF’s north-south tracks.

Most trains that leave or enter southern California use the crossing. The grade separation has been identified as one of the nation’s most critically needed transportation projects by Engineering News-Record magazine.
