Rail News: Maintenance Of Way
Earlier this week, Kansas City Southern began replacing nine switches and constructing a new road bed at Deramus Yard in Shreveport, La.
In mid-July, the Class I plans to replace 38 more switches and complete a north lead track. Crews already have installed 6,000 ties and some switch ties to prepare for the north lead project.
Coupled with improvements completed last year, this summer's project will completely rehabilitate the yard's north and south leads, enabling KCS to improve switching operations to meet growing traffic volumes, according to a prepared statement.
