Koppers Holdings Inc. recently promoted Ernest Bryon from vice president of Australasian operations and managing director of Koppers Australia Pty Ltd. to the newly created position of VP of Asian business development, effective Dec. 1. He will be responsible for overseeing Asian operations and developing business opportunities in the region for the company’s railroad and utility products, and carbon materials and chemicals groups.

Koppers also promoted Mark McCormack to VP of Australian operations to assume some of Bryon’s former duties. McCormack will be responsible for the firm’s Australian carbon materials, chemicals and timber preservation businesses, including a Koppers Arch wood-treatment chemicals joint venture.

Finally, Koppers appointed James Stalder to its board. Currently chairman of Carnegie Mellon University’s finance committee and vice chairman of the college’s audit committee, Stadler serves as an adjunct professor at Carnegie Mellon’s Graduate School of Business.

Koppers supplies carbon compounds and treated wood products, including wood crossties.
