Between June 21 and Sept. 6, MTA Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) will conduct its summer construction program, which includes track, signal and switch improvements.

The agency will upgrade a signal and switching system, install microprocessor-based technology, and replace and reconfigure switches near Queens Village. LIRR also will install four high-speed crossovers, 6,000 steel-reinforced concrete ties and more than four miles of welded rail.

In addition, the agency will replace 3,000 wood ties on the Port Washington Branch between Bayside and Great Neck.
