MTA Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) this week expects to finish a tie replacement project between the Patchogue and Montauk stations along the Montauk Branch.

The work will continue through Friday during off-peak hours to minimize service changes during busier service periods, LIRR officials said in a press release. The project includes surfacing and drainage remediation work.

The railroad is providing substitute buses during the project.

This year, LIRR has budgeted $64 million for its MOW plans, down from $75 million in 2017, according to Progressive Railroading's 2018 MOW Spending Report that was released in April.
