Oklahoma port completes marshaling yard track project

The Port of Muskogee, Okla., recently completed the third phase of its marshaling yard that involved the construction of a third track totaling 2,770 linear feet.

Port officials previously secured a local grant for the $500,000 project, which had been delayed for some time due to budget constraints. The third track was included in the port's original rail system design that was completed in the mid-1990s.

Completed on Jan. 21, the track will help improve the efficiency of storing and delivering freight cars to existing rail-served customers, as well as accommodate future growth at the port, said Scott Robinson, director of the Muskogee City-County Port Authority, in a news item posted on the port's website.

The marshaling yard — which was constructed in two phases in 1994 and 1995 — parallels Union Pacific Railroad's lead track into the port.
