The SEDA-COG Joint Rail Authority (JRA) plans to dedicate the newly constructed Loyalsock Creek Railroad Bridge on Aug. 13.Located between Montoursville and Williamsport, Pa., the $12 million structure replaced an 85-year old bridge that was heavily damaged by Tropical Storm Lee in September 2011. The new bridge is designed to last 80 to 100 years and better withstand high waters, according to the JRA. Industries on the line featuring the bridge are served by the Lycoming Valley Railroad (LVRR), which is contracted by the JRA as the route's operator. "The new bridge is integral and vital to the rail authority’s rail lines that serve 30 industries in the Muncy-Williamsport-South Avis corridor," said JRA Executive Director Jeff Stover in a press release.As part of the dedication, a ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at the bridge. Scheduled speakers at the event include JRA Chairman Jerry Walls, Deputy Federal Railroad Administrator Karen Hedlund and LVRR President Gary Shields.
