The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) has completed a new revenue platform at the Balboa Park Muni light-rail station in San Francisco. The agency will continue to carry out several other pedestrian safety and security improvements at the station, including a sidewalk widening on Geneva Avenue and installation of new way-finding signs. "The Balboa Park Muni and [Bay Area Rapid Transit] station is one of the busiest transit hubs in the city," said Ed Reiskin, SFMTA director of transportation. "This necessary work at Balboa Park Station will ensure more reliable service, more accessible options and a safer experience for everyone."The Balboa Park Station work is part of the Green Light Rail Center Track Replacement project, which involves replacing worn storage tracks and revenue tracks for the SFMTA's J and K rail lines. The larger project also calls for upgrading the overhead contact system and building a new stop for the lines at San Jose Avenue.
