Rail News: Maintenance Of Way
Thompson Industries Inc. recently named Jeff Broadfoot national accounts sales manager. He will be responsible for U.S. and Canadian Class I accounts, and north central U.S. regional, short line and industrial railroad customers.
Broadfoot most recently served as a sales executive in the forest products division of Kerr-McGee Chemical Corp., which recently exited the wood-tie business. After joining Kerr-McGee in 1983, he held various sales positions and was responsible for marketing treated wood products to Class Is, regionals, short lines, contractors, utilities and industrial companies.
Thompson Industries also has reorganized its sales force. The wood-tie supplier named Sales Manager Tony Helms commercial sales manager and Eva Davis, customer service/inside sales representative.
Helms will be responsible for all sales to Mexico, and south central U.S. regional, short line, industrial and contractor accounts. Davis will be responsible for all railroad contractor sales, and customer service, sales support and administrative functions.
Soon, Thompson Industries will begin expanding its Russellville, Ark., plant, which will "substantially increase our capacity to both process and treat ties," said President Harry Scott in a prepared statement. "This expansion and reorganization will better allow us to serve our customers' treated wood railroad product needs both now and for years to come."
