Track project remains on track, Pennsylvania joint rail authority says

Work continues on a Koppers/Halliburton track construction and rehabilitation project in the Muncy, Pa., area, according to the SEDA-COG Joint Rail Authority (JRA). Trackwork began in late April.
To be completed by July’s end, the project calls for building 2,300 feet of track and rehabilitating another 1,800 feet. The project will improve tracks at a Koppers-Susquehanna plant and provide rail access to Halliburton's new 55-acre gas drilling support complex, which processes sand, minerals, chemicals and others products used in natural gas development, JRA officials said in a prepared statement.
The authority is overseeing and administering the project. Track construction firm W.E. Yoder Inc. serves as the contractor.
The nearly $1 million project is being funded through a state grant to the Industrial Properties Corp. affiliated with the Williamsport/Lycoming Chamber of Commerce. Halliburton is funding the construction of sidings totaling more than 3,000 feet in length.
Both the Koppers plant and Halliburton complex are served by the Lycoming Valley Railroad, a short line operated by the North Shore Railroad Co. for the JRA.
