UP amends composite crosstie sales agreement with TieTek

North American Technologies Group Inc. (NATK) subsidiary TieTek recently obtained a multi-year amendment to a composite crosstie sales agreement with Union Pacific Railroad.

"This agreement gives the company flexibility to focus on building a robust customer base,” said NATK and TieTek Chief Executive Officer John Corcia in a prepared statement.

Produced from recycled plastics, used tires and other mineral fillers, TieTek’s composite ties are designed to last longer than hardwood ties in structural applications.

TieTek recently completed manufacturing upgrades at its Marshall, Texas, plant to improve product quality and boost production volumes. And in late 2006, the company opened a tie producing plant in Houston.
