advertisement
Union Pacific Railroad plans to spend $9.2 million to upgrade a 48-mile line running between Crag and downtown Phoenix, Ariz.
To be completed by April’s end, the project calls replacing about 65,000 ties, installing more than 19,000 tons of ballast and renewing the surfaces at 55 grade crossings.
The project is part of UP’s $3.6 billion capital spending program for 2012.
