UP to improve line along Colorado River

Union Pacific Railroad plans to spend about $1 million to improve a line in Colorado’s Grand Junction area.
On March 12, crews will begin stabilizing track along the Colorado River. Work is scheduled to be completed by May’s end.
Before the stabilizing project can begin, the Class I plans to undertake a significant cleanup of an area known as “The Point” at the confluence of the Colorado and Gunnison rivers, UP officials said in a prepared statement. The cleanup effort will include removing trash and debris that’s collected in the area over the years. UP is coordinating cleanup efforts with several local government and nonprofit agencies.
