Here are four developments in the rail supply/service provider industry to start the week:

• BNSF Railway Co. has standardized DeLorme's Earthmate GPS PN-20 as the Global Positioning System receiver for track maintenance crews. The waterproof PN-20 receiver displays topographic maps, aerial imagery and other data. BNSF crews will use the device to access track and milepost data, search the Class I's database for track defects, and automatically download defect information directly from track geometry cars.

• CH2M Hill's Transportation Business Group appointed John Trumbull senior project manager and railway track designer. He has 40 years' experience designing freight-rail engineering projects for Union Pacific Railroad, with expertise in grade separations. Trumbull's recent projects include track construction at the Port of Portland's new Toyota facility, trackwork for the Port of Seattle and a new rail loop at the Port of Walla Walla, Wash.

• The Andersons Inc. nominated Ross Manire to its board to succeed John Barrett, the chairman, president and CEO of Western & Southern Financial Group who's served on the rail-car lessor's board since 1992 and has chosen not to stand for re-election. Manire is chairman and CEO of ExteNet Systems Inc.

• MHF Logistical Solutions Inc. named Erik Vogeley technical services manager. He most recently was vice president of business development for EnergySolutions L.L.C.'s commercial services division. MHF provides transportation services — including rail — for radioactive, hazardous and non-hazardous waste and materials.
