The Washington State Legislature recently approved $4 million in additional funding for the Connell Rail Interchange project.

The funds were included in the legislature's 2024 supplemental transportation budget.

The $19 million project includes $10 million in funding obtained by the legislature in 2015 and an additional $5 million in the 2023 Legislative session, according to a Fox 28 report.

The $28.7 million project calls for relocating, reconfiguring and improving a critical rail interchange in rural Connell, where the Columbia Basin Railroad joins a BNSF Railway Co. mainline that runs between Spokane and Paco, Washington.
