Norfolk Southern Railway yesterday announced Joseph Carpenter IV has been named vice president-law.
Carpenter has more than 22 years of experience in the rail industry, with expertise in managing complex litigation and driving strategic legal initiatives. He will report to Jason Morris, senior VP and chief legal officer, NS officials said in a press release.
In his new role, Carpenter will lead the NS law department. He joined NS in 2002, most recently serving as senior general counsel, complex litigation and informational governance. His experience spans significant incidents and challenges, corporate litigation and transactional matters. Carpenter also serves on the executive committee of the National Association of Railroad Trial Counsel.
"[Carpenter's] expertise will help us navigate the opportunities and challenges ahead as we continue delivering value for our customers and communities," said Morris.
