Norfolk Southern Corp. subsidiary Thoroughbred Direct Intermodal Services Inc. and transportation management software provider MercuryGate International Inc. have formed an integration partnership that will allow clients to gain access to the Modal-X web-based portal, MercuryGate announced Monday.
Modal-X provides instantaneous door-to-door intermodal rates for transactional freight opportunities.
"MercuryGate, integrated with Modal-X, gives TMS (transportation management software) users an alternative for executing multileg, multimodal shipments with a door-to-door service provider," said MercuryGate Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder Monica Wooden in a press release.
"Many of our clients who utilize MercuryGate's TMS can now secure spot capacity available on Norfolk Southern's intermodal network without having to log on to our Modal-X website," said Sam Niness, assistant vice president and general manager at TDIS.
In addition to rates and booking services, integrated Modal-X clients will be able to book same day pickup and have access to competitive "book now" pricing, officials said.
