Norfolk Southern Corp. has named Ann Adams chief human resources officer (CHRO), with responsibility for human resources and labor relations. In addition, NS appointed PC Bryant as vice president of human resources.

Adams will report to NS President and CEO Mark George, while Bryant will report to Adams, NS officials said in a press release.

Adams joined NS in 2001 as a manager in human resources. From there, she progressed through roles of increasing responsibility that gave her experience in roles including as chief transformation officer, which combined human resources, labor relations, corporate communications, IT and sustainability. Earlier this year, NS separated those divisions and Adams served as an adviser to help with the transition as the company searched to fill new leadership roles, including CHRO.

"I asked Annie to step into the CHRO role because she is adept at building a high-performing organization and aligning the enterprise behind who we are, how we grow and how we bring employees along with us every step of the way," said George. "As we round out the executive leadership team, Annie's voice at the table will be vital to our ongoing transformation and success."

Since joining NS in 2020 as AVP human resources, Bryant has led organizational change initiatives, workforce planning, performance management and training. Prior to joining NS , Bryant held roles in human resources at other major employers, including CSX.
