Norfolk Southern names Barr VP investor relations, treasurer

Norfolk Southern Railway has named Michael Barr vice president of investor relations and treasurer.

Barr, who has more than 20 years of experience in finance and investment management, will report to Jason Zampi, NS executive VP and chief financial officer, said NS officials in a press release. In his new role, Barr will strengthen investor relations and oversee NS’s integrated resource planning process, they said.

Most recently, Barr served as a managing director at Neuberger Berman, an asset management firm, where he managed allocations within the firm’s research portfolio. Throughout his finance and investment management career, he has interacted with various logistics companies and railroads, including NS, CSX and Union Pacific Railroad, NS officials said.

“Michael is a welcome addition to Norfolk Southern,” said Zampi. “His expertise in financial management, coupled with his experience in the transportation industry, will be invaluable as we continue to execute our strategy, deliver safe and reliable service for our customers, and provide long-term shareholder value."
