Norfolk Southern Railway is offering two years of studio space at its Atlanta headquarters to a local artist through an artist-in-residence program.
The railroad is seeking applications for a visual artist who is "motivated to engage with and build connections with employees through the power of art," NS officials said in a press release.
Artists must submit a resume, bio and 10 images of their work to Anne Lambert Tracht at anne@consultartinc.com by Oct. 22. The artist will have full access to a 755-square-foot studio space at no cost for two years, including all utilities, and internet connectivity. The artist will also receive an annual stipend of $5,000.
Artists must work in the studio at least 20 hours a week; be cognizant that they are working in a corporate environment; and have general liability insurance or sign a waiver of liability.
ConsultArt and NS representatives will choose the artist, who must be available to move in by February 2024. At the completion of the residency, the artist will be asked to donate an artwork or works of art valued at $10,000 to the building as part of the Norfolk Southern Artist in Residency collection.
