Pilot Chemical Co. last week announced it completed the company's largest-ever infrastructure investment at its Middletown, Ohio, manufacturing facility, which is served by Norfolk Southern Railway.Capital improvements and enhancements to the facility included rail infrastructure upgrades. Pilot added a second spur and new rail and truck loading racks.In addition, the company constructed new loading and unloading docks for box trailers, installed new storage tanks and lengthened a site access road.Work began in June 2012 and all new enhancements will enter service in the third quarter, Pilot officials said in a press release.The additions and enhancements "will allow us to be more flexible in servicing our existing customers while giving us the capability to respond quickly to new opportunities," said Vice President-Commercial Glynn Goertzen.
