Three Norfolk Southern-served industrial sites earn REDI designations

Three of Norfolk Southern Railway's rail-served industrial sites — located in Kentucky, South Carolina and Virginia — have received designations from the Site Selectors Guild Readiness Evaluation and Designation Initiative (REDI) Sites program.

Developed by the guild, the REDI Sites program is the first comprehensive national standard for site readiness. It rigorously evaluates factors such as infrastructure, development feasibility, ownership and workforce availability, NS officials said in a press release.

Sites earn designations indicating their readiness to support corporate development and attract significant investments.

“By investing in development-ready sites across our network, we’re helping quality companies make informed decisions, positioning them in locations optimized for rail connectivity and logistical efficiency," said Craig Hudson, group vice president of industrial development at NS. "This approach not only supports their growth but also strengthens the economic vitality of the communities we serve.”

The three locations that received REDI Site designations are the Shelbyville Norfolk Southern site in Shelbyville, Kentucky, which received a "silver" designation; the Tri-County Global Industrial site in Orangeburg, South Carolina, which also received a silver designation; and the Commonwealth Crossing Business Center in Martinsville, Virginia, which received a "platinum" designation.

The Site Selectors Guild is the only association of the world’s professional site selection consultants. Guild members provide location strategy to corporations across the globe and for every industry, sector and function, NS officials said.
