WMATA inks $129 million deal with Alstom

advertisement

Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority recently awarded Alstom Transportation a $129 million contract to design and manufacture 62 Series 6000 heavy rail cars for use on the Blue Line extension to Largo Town Center and for current service growth.

The contract includes cars, spare parts, special tools and training.

If WMATA were to exercise an option for 120 additional subway cars slated for use on the Orange Line extension to Tysons Corner and projected service growth, Alstom could net another $194 million.
