New York Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) has awarded a $17.4 million engineering consultant contract to Carter & Burgess Inc.

Under the three-year pact, Carter & Burgess will provide project management oversight for MTA’s five-year, $20 billion capital program, which encompasses a variety of projects — including bridge and tunnel work, as well as network expansion — for New York City Transit, Long Island Rail Road and Metro-North Railroad.

The contract also include options for four additional one-year extensions.
