Senate committee to examine railroad and maritime industry safety

U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation Oct. 2 plans to hold a hearing to examine passenger and cargo security issues in the railroad and maritime industries. Committee Chairman Senator Jonn Breaux (D-La.) will preside over the hearing, which is scheduled to be held at 10 a.m. (EDT) in Room 253 of the Russell Senate Office Building.



Admiral James Underwood, director of the Office of Intelligence and Security will appear on the first panel. Association of American Railroads President and Chief Executive Officer Edward Hamberger, Amtrak President and CEO George Warrington, Chamber of Shipping of America President Joseph Cox and International Council of Cruise Lines President J. Michael Crye are scheduled to testify on the second panel.
