Caltrain pilot program expands Bay-area weekend service
advertisement
Caltrain commuter rail service Nov. 18 plans to begin a three-month pilot program operating weekend trains between San Francisco and Gilroy, Calif.
Although Caltrain would continue serving all regular weekend stops, times have been adjusted by two minutes for travel in either direction.
A shuttle would carry morning passengers to Gilroy's downtown area and outlet stores; in the afternoon, the shuttle would return passengers to the train station.
Caltrain officials claim the program — for the first time — would provide South Santa Clara County residents weekend train access to San Jose, the Peninsula and San Francisco.
