Tri-Rail revises schedule to accommodate track work
advertisement
On June 6, the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority (SFRTA) will revise its schedule so crews can continue work on the final phase of the $333.8 million Double Track Corridor Improvement Program.
The new schedule is designed to increase the mid-day construction window for crews to complete work between the Fort Lauderdale and Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport stations. The schedule will improve on-time performance by minimizing construction impact, provide later evening service, and standardize station arrival and departure times, according to a prepared statement.
The revised schedule also will minimize delays into the Metrorail Transfer Station for southbound passengers because the authority is moving the current meet — where trains pass while traveling in opposite directions — from north of the station to south of the station. SFRTA also is moving the meet near Lake Work Station from the north side to the south side of the facility so crews can replace and upgrade track. As a result, the authority will operate trains on two already-complete double-track areas.
