WMATA closer to establishing passenger advisory group
advertisement
Yesterday, Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) board members preliminarily approved plans to establish a Riders Advisory Council.
If approved by the full board next week, the council would be formed by year’s end and comprise 21 members, including six passengers each from Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia, two at-large members and the head of WMATA’s Elderly and Disabled Transportation Advisory Committee. Members would serve three-year terms and attend monthly public meetings.
The council would share input from riders and public transit organizations on a range of operational and budget issues with WMATA’s managers and board.
